Pin Ups Capturing the American Dream By: Bella Morris, 5th Period

Bruce Mozert, a famous photographer created a commercial project for Silver Springs park in Florida… underwater. The series was initially created for the park but then became a famous look into the rare and romantic side of society at the time. Monroe, a photographer that came across Mozert's work in a Florida gift shop described this series as "The perfect look into the American Dream." He was so intrigued by the photos that he ended up contacting Mozert and meeting up at a studio. The photographs are described as timeless and effortless. I really love this series, I think what makes it so unique is how the photographs aren't trying to be anything. The models look genuinely happy, and very realistic. The photos aren't trying to prove anything. I think the American dream revolves around being happy, thats what people like to see, happiness. To see a picture where people look happy, and not trying to look seductive with weird makeup on to make a statement, makes it unique…along with the whole photo shoot being underwater.

  2. This is the first time I've seen these pictures and they're really adorable. It's interesting to notice the style from then compared to the style now.
