State of the Union, Obama proposals show president on offense despite GOP wave

The White House is gearing up for State of the Union and not much anticipation is coming from what Obama is going to say in his address.  There has been a release from president Obama about plans on billions in tax increases on top earners to fund new tax credits that will help the middle class.  Frank believes the state of the Union matters because it shows the contrast between the presidents vision and the republican congress. President is going to showcase his strategy of division, and his tax proposal on billions of dollars is showcasing that. Chuck says that it's like a big chess game between Obama and the republican congress.  Chuck believes Obama is going to talk about the economy, his policies that have helped the economy including the health care.  Frank believes that Obama is irrelevant to the economy bouncing back and that obamas policies have nothing to do with the outcome.
This event could compare to a lot of times in the American history. The president is doing things in his power that he believes is helping the economy but there is another side of the people disagreeing to his ideas. This also relates back to the conflict between republicans and democrats that have raged since the formation of the two parties. Finding common ground and agreement have always been difficult between the two parties.
