A$AP Yams, or Steven Rodriguez, was found dead on January 18. The cause of death is unknown, but many believe drug overdose is to blame. The 26 year old Rodriguez was titled the mastermind of the rising of rappers A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg, and was instrumental in the rising of the A$AP Mob. The hip-hop world is mourning, with outpourings from Drake and Azaelia Banks, as well as the Mob and RCA Records. He was credited with being the "brilliant mind" of the Mob and Rocky stated that he was like "a hip-hop encyclopedia". Rodriguez's talents were apparent, and made obvious by everyone around him.
