California Measles Outbreak - Olivia Lambert 3rd Period

Last Friday the city of California reported that a measles outbreak has grown to 68 cases. Reporters have said that around the Christmas holiday at Disneyland is where the measles was prevalent. Nine cases have also been reported among neighboring states. This terrible virus first starts with a runny nose, bloody eyes, and sore throat. Recommended by reporters, staying away from amusement parks and airports is a good idea for people who have not been vaccinated until this clears up.

This whole outbreak of a well known disease is terrible and whoever the 68 cases are, doctors should hospitalize them and make sure they are well before they even go into the public again. This outbreak reminds me of Ebola because of how it is affecting several people and how the disease can be spread through the air and/or contact. This disease also reminds me of the 1600s when the spanish came to America and explored the land because they brought several diseases with them; the Indians especially.

  2. Oh no! It's like history replaying itself all over again! At least there are much more advanced medication and treatments. Hopefully this epidemic ends soon.

  3. Diseases will come and go we cannot prevent it from happening, well at least not now. In history we can see what disease can do to populations and it is terrifying. However it is not nearly as bad as it was when there wasn’t the same kind of treatment, medication, or preventatives that we have now.
