Not All Muslims Are Bad by Yasmine Bougacha (5th pd)

This article is a background story surrounding the somewhat humorous arrest of American Robert Alan Black. He was arrested for taking pictures of photography-forbidden areas after been given a warning from officials and after reading a sign in English that said "Photography Forbidden." The main focus of this article though was about his treatment in the whole jail process. According to Black, everything was civil in the detaining process and if it wasn't for his "Muslim angels" then he wouldn't have survived jail. They were constantly nice to him, from offering him food to just being good friends to him. Even after his release, he is still in touch with his ex-cellmates who he is eternally thankful for.
I think that it is so great that two people of completely different cultures and different religions can be so friendly and generous to each other. Despite all of the tension going on between Christians and Muslims, Black and his cellmates (who according to him were all of Muslim faith) were able to get along so well and make a friendship so strong that it has lasted until today. They did not let the little details of their personal believes matter and from that bloomed a beautiful relationship. I hope that more people can follow the example of Black and his new friends, and hopefully this will lead to more peaceful terms between the two groups.

  1. I really like this. No Muslims are bad. Extremists put the blame on Muslims (or whatever religion they claim they are) and it's really absurd. All people of every religion or race or anything should be treated equally.

  2. Its wild to me that people can know how large the Muslim population is and think that all Muslim are out to get them. Honestly these people need to grow up and realize that those Muslims that are attacking people are often attacking other Muslims and that victims should not be categorized by their oppressors.
