FBI Probing Past of Suspect in Oklahoma Beheading : Vivie Behrens (6th period, week 5)

Last Thursday, attacker Alton Nolen beheaded 54-year-old Collen Hufford and stabbed 43-year-old Traci Johnson at the Vaughan Foods processing plant where Nolen had recently been laid off. Luckily, the CEO, also an off duty reserve sheriff's deputy, was able to stop Nolen from continuing his attack and shot at him twice. Nolen had previously been imprisoned for possessing controlled substances, escaping confinement, and resisting an officer; however, he was released from incarceration in 2013. Investigations have clarified that on the day of the attack Nolen went through the front office, the shipping office, and finally, the costumer service office, where he began to harm workers randomly without a specific target. Some investigators have been speculating about whether the attack was associated with the terrorist group, ISIS, but the investigations have been inconclusive.
This, like many other instances that occur every day around the world, is another display of an evil and immoral act committed against humanity. It is very unfortunate the Colleen Hufford and Traci Johnson had to suffer the consequences for Alton Nolen's irrational and wicked motives. This article was primarily written to alert the public of such an atrocious act  and hopefully prevent further attacks. Additionally, this report evokes an emotional response in its readers, which will bring attention to Nolen's trial and help ensure that justice is served by either imprisoning Nolen or directing him to psychiatric help.

  1. This guy is clearly not in his right mind and should be put somewhere where he won't be of harm.

  2. I also choose this occurrence as my current event, for it really strikes me as something that everyone should be aware of. It is so frightening to realize how many crimes truly occur every day. It makes me fear how evil society actually is.
