DOD Now Enlisting Illegal Immigrants!

Fox News has just recently announced on September 26, 2014, The Defense Department is now beginning to allow illegal immigrants to enlist in the military causing "active-duty" soldiers to be cut as a result of budget cuts. Though this may only apply to immigrants with a high skill set and have been a resident of the United States since before the age of 16, the program is recruiting numbers of 1,500 immigrants every year. The reason most likely being the free citizenship, educational aid, and payment provided being granted to those who sign up. "We do not know how many people with the required skills will apply to enter the military and therefore do not have an estimate of how many people this will potentially impact." stated Lt. Commander Nate Christensen, a DOD spokesman.
While allowing illegal immigrants to enlist in something as reliable and trusting as the army, the real main concern is the hundreds of "active-duty" soldiers being let go to abide the budget cut. The reported number of the soldiers has fallen from the high 5,000's to the low 4,000's. This issue has raised much concern about the readiness of the military.
The only prior knowledge I had on the subject was being aware of the fact that illegal immigrants are now being granted many rights the citizens of America have worked very hard to accomplish. I think this subject is diffidently being under rated therefor I support this article shedding light on the topic. I hope this article does open the eyes of American citizens and the government so the issue is addressed, whether it results in kicking the immigrants out or working out a solution helpful to both parties.

  2. I personally don't believe kicking illegal immigrants out will solve anything, and if anything, it'll cause problems between the U.S. and countries that immigrants migrate from. Illegal immigrants work just as hard to be here as anyone else (I mean just think about how some of them GOT INTO the U.S.) and it is extremely unfair to strip them of their rights to enter or work in this country just because of their identity. While yes, I see that people are losing their jobs, they are probably losing their jobs because they were unfit or maybe even a last resort. (Not saying that ALL of those people were last resorts but obviously they had reasons to be cut off and replaced by someone who the government believes will do a better job.)
Also, by you saying that illegal immigrants are "granted rights citizens of America have worked hard to accomplish" you are basically implying that I.I. are being "given" these rights as if they have done nothing to gain these rights, which is a harsh generalization.
Sending some of these people back who come here to escape poverty, war, genocide, death, etc. should not be, in my opinion, sent back. I believe all should be eligible to work hard for and achieve the "American Dream."
(Not attempting to disrespect your claim in any way, shape, or form.)
