14-year-old Girl Used As "Bait" Finally Getting Justice? Destiny Ramirez 4th Period

In 2010, at a Sparkman Middle School in Alabama, an unimaginable horror happened. A 14-year-old-girl was allegedly raped after a teacher's aide convinced her to act as bait to catch a sexually predator in the school. According to the brief, the boy had been involved in 15 other violent or sex-related proven incidents. The staff at the middle school was also aware of the boys monstrous acts, but it seems the boy was never seriously punished. About a week before the alleged rape, both principals received a complaint about another one of the boy touching another student inappropriately and the boy was 'punished' with in-school suspension. June Simpson, a teacher's aide reported to principal, Ronnie Blair, that the boy had been repeatedly trying to convince girls to have sex with him. Blair responded that they could not punish the boy with actually catching  him in the act. Simpson then talked to a special needs student and tried to convince her to help catch the boy. At first the girl was not on board but later decide she would help. They then both went to the principal and informed Blair of their plan to send the girl in and immediately have a teacher walk into and essentially catch him in the act. Blair didn't not encourage nor prevent this plan of theirs. After, the girl then went to meet the boy and the boy decided to go to a different restroom. No one came to help the girl and was somodized essentially. After no criminal charges from the investigation, the victim's family recently filed a law suit against the administers.

I think that this in so many ways wrong, and although the girl did eventually decided to help out in catch the boy, the school is definitely to blame here. What kind of administrators do not take immediate action in after finding out one of their students illegal and sick acts and basically allow them to happen the way Simpson did? The principal, I think is the main to blame, it's not right or even a little okay to run a school and simply ignore the injustice and traumatizing acts of the boy, and although Blair claims to not encourage Simpson's plan, certainly did nothing to stop it. I hope everyone served with justice they deserve for this unacceptable act.

  1. It is so incredible that it even reached that point. It is irresponsible and disgusting. This is not right in anyway shape or form. They shouldn't have to wait until he his caught in the act, because by that point it is way too late.

  2. I don't think using the young girl as bait was a good idea even if there seemed to be nothing else to do. And you are right about the fact that the administrators were wrong for not paying much mind to the incidents. What made them think the acts he committed were minor enough to just punish him with ISS... If that action can be punished on the same level as a dress code violation, then I'd pray for their other students.

  3. This crazy the fact they would use her as bait. Like that teacher was ignorant. Hopefully this kid will be locked up and thrown away for all the evil he has caused.

  4. This is ridiculous! Isn't the school supposed to be a safe place? The teacher should be fired and the student should face punishments! The principal should also be punished because this was not the right method of plan.

  5. I feel that could have taken care of problem. It is ctazy that the teacher made a student do this. Sonetines the way schools seal with thibgsare. Not theright way. Ift he principle would have looked at the situation and this whole thing would have been avoided.

  6. This is disgusting. How could a teacher, someone who's responsible for children every day, use a child as bait for a known sexual abuser? These are our earliest role models beside our parents. It's not okay.

  7. What sort of mind had this teacher been in to send a student into possible danger? If there was to be something done to catch the boy, maybe try to lure him in with a false meeting or contact his parents! It is a school after all and they should have access to his guardians. If this was a repeated problem and on multiple occasions had but other students at risk, this boy should have been suspended long ago.

  8. What sense does it make to send a special needs teenager to be bait for the boy? It is ridiculous that the principal could not handle the actions when they were first brought to attention. The girl did not deserve to be put in that situation in the first place. That school needs to rethink who is in charge as it seems those expected to care for the well being of the students obviously is not thinking.

  9. This is so ridiculous that it does not even sound true or accurate.

  10. They should have been able to punish this boy without having to "catch him in the act", when their are that many incidents being spoken up about then something is wrong and the school has or at least should have the authority to step in.

  11. This is wrong. America should do something about this. They need to punish people no matter the age. This is wrong. Quentin Noble -2

  12. Everything about this unprofessional. If you know someone is a predator you do not allow them near a potential victim unsupervised, also the whole idea of "catching" him is ridiculous. If 15 other people had been victimized their testimony should have been enough. Also the teachers assistant should be punished for child endangerment, no teacher should so willingly and cavalierly put a student in such a harmful situation.

  13. This literally makes me sick to my stomach. Did they honestly think that was the appropriate way to handle the situation??
