Teenager beheaded in India- Kennedy Hannible

A 13-year-old girl of lower caste in India was beheaded this weekend because when she refused sexual advances from a man of a higher class. The accused man beheaded the young girl with a farm hook after she repeatedly turned him down.  The man was charged with under an act criminalizing caste-based violence. The law has existed in India since 1989. The violence based on a caste system is simply heartbreaking. The girl was apart of a fifth caste system called the Dalits and also known as the untouchables. They aren't even allowed basic education on the basis of a scale used by Hindus. Even though there is a law against discrimination based on certain casts, people still commit horrible and heinous crimes against people who are of a lower caste. Multiple people have stood up and spoke out about the violence in India. The crimes against women in the lower caste are usually under-reported and thrown under the rug. According to Tamil Nadu statistics, accounting for only 5% to 8% of total crimes against members of lower castes. Violent protest from the Dalit has started to spread across India and the government was forced to pass an executive order. I really hope these types of crimes stop and the number of crimes against women and lower caste stops as soon as possible.

  1. This is just awful, like I just don't understand why people would take advantage of children. This most certainly needs to stop.
