India: Girl beheaded for Turing down advances- Madi Haggard

In India, a 13-year-old girl from a lower caste was beheaded in one of the country's southern states last week.  Her alleged killer surprisingly from a higher, majority caste.  The complaint filed with police in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu states that the victim rejected the advances of the accused, leading to a violent reaction.  The girl was murdered, and the investigation is still open. The accused has been arrested and charged under the act that criminalizes caste-based violence.
