This BBC article discusses a purposeful fire that took place at an all boys boarding school in Uganda. The fire was especially destructive and deadly due to the padlocks on the doors keeping those inside trapped. Right now 10 are dead and with 20 in critical condition that number is expected to rise. Investigations are taking place now as to the possibility of former members of the school having something to do with the three men that were arrested and accused of starting the fire.
This article brings attention to an event of another country that most of the United States might have never known happened. This makes it very important because it educates nations about world news and the tragedies of other countries. Also brought up in the article was the idea that if there had been a fire station and firefighters in the district, it is possible that lives would have been spared. Another important issue is brought up here with having the proper safety in districts and towns in the tragic case of disaster striking. It is even more crucial to have near schools. This relates to arsonists David Berkowitz and Peter Dinsdale because, as with the arsonists of this tragedy, they all set the fires to kill.
They really should have better safety precautions a specially since this is a school and their shouldn’t have been lives lost.
ReplyDeletethis makes me really sad. there should be some type of procedure that happens when there is a fire. being at school should be a completely innocent and safe place to be.
