A call for cease-fire in Yemen- Betty Dubois

More than 22 million out of Yemen's total population of 29 million are in need of humanitarian assistance. More than 8 million people are facing pre-famine conditions, meaning they are entirely reliant on external aid for survival. According to the UN, about 80 percent of Yemenis under the age of 18 have threats to their health and survival. The U.N. and human rights groups have accused both the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition of commiting war crimess that have killed or injured more than 17,000 civilians. Before the war, Yemen imported 80% to 90% of its staple foods and fuel, but blockades  limited delivery, making these essential goods more expensive and harder to get. Famine is a large issue in the world, and I think that countries should be getting together to support Yemen in this crucial time. Many people in America struggle to eat, but it is devistating how much of the Yemen population is suffering through this, along with war.
