In response to Trump placing a tarrif on steel and aluminum, China has threatened to put tariffs as high as 25% on American-made imports.  (including pork) Trump's tarrif on $60 billion worth of Chinese products was bound to have its consequences. As expected, China is upset and has decided to take action. I feel like this whole situation is pretty pointless and could have been avoided. You can't fix something that's isn't broken in the first place, and that is what Trump tried to do...

“America is waking up to the loss of its technological advantage through China’s restrictions on access to its internal markets,” she told reporters. “That is now a place where policy is beginning to change.”
