Teacher Walk Out: Hannah Karim

Thousands of teachers in West Virginia and Oklahoma walked out of their classrooms and tobthe state capitol last week for protesting decades of stagnant wages.  The average teacher salary in West Virginia this year was less than it was 18 years ago, and as a result, many school districts in Oklahoma had to cut a full school day. The Oklahoma Legislature has been cutting education spending for years, and over the past 10, the student funding has  dropped by nearly 30% when the state adjusted for inflation.  As a result of this, many Oklahoma students have experienced textbook shortages, outdated learning materials, and poor learning environments.
