A couple of activists who documented their anti-pipeline protests have been arrested and are facing possibly years of jail time. The arrest of the Anti-Pipeline Activists has sparked much debate over the serious issue that is the targeting of peaceful protesters. 6 journalists are going on trial for "rioting offense" brought on by their live streaming and recording of the protesters shutting valves on the pipeline.
This is important for this day and age because this is a breach on our civil rights. Peaceful Protesting has never been against the law, and by punishing people for exercising their right to protest you are basically making is against the law. Those people should not be facing criminal charges for documenting the protest or partaking in the protest.
