Bill Cosby Found Guilty of Sexual Assault in Retrial- Heaven-Leigh Pettis

So much for "The Cosby Show"

Today, Thursday, March 26th, Bill Cosby was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home 14 years ago. Cosby was convicted of 3 counts of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand, at the time a Temple University employee. The Montgomery County district attorney suggested his $1 million dollar bail should be revoked considering he committed a serious crime, owned a plane and could flee. Cosby was angry at this statement and yelled that he did not own a plane and called him an asshole. The Judge didn't view him as a flight risk and said that he could have his bail as long as he stayed near his home.
The National Organization for Women called for the verdict to remember that there are sexual predators everywhere. Women everywhere were relieved to find that Cosby had been found guilty of his sexual assault charges and Rose McGowan, who accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, even tweeted out a thank you to the judge and the jury and "to society for waking up." 5 women showed up to the trial to testify against Cosby and to which Kathleen Bliss, one of Cosby's lawyers, called one of the women a failed scarlet who slept around. Women in the courtroom were enraged at this remark considering that they were all victims of sexual assault and were finally speaking out about what happened.
Cosby still insisted that his relationship with Andrea Constand was consensual but she says that that wasn't the case. Past victims of Cosby's testified against him and Cosby's legal team kept trying to limit the number of victims that testified. His legal team doesn't believe that he committed the crime and have supported him through this whole retrial. Once the verdict was reached, Cosby and his legal team were not happy but Andrea Constand and other victims celebrated by hugging and crying tears of joy.
It sucks to be let down by someone I looked up to as a kid. Now, I feel bad for watching the Cosby Show even though I grew up on it. I do believe that he committed all these crimes even though there are a lot of his fans who still believe he didn't. I will say that I do think it's wrong to hate this man because of his crimes though because you have people like Woody Allen who haven't been convicted of anything. So while Cosby deserves what's coming to him, there are plenty of famous people who deserve to go be punished too.
And, although Cosby deserves to go to jail, dude is 80 years old, what is he going to learn? That he's going to die in jail? That his hip is getting worst? I don't see the good in sending him to jail for up to 30 years when he'll probably die sooner than that.

  1. It's good to see that such people can still be taken down by crimes from decades ago as Cosby winning this case would have been a powerful and I'd say bad message to those fighting this sort of decades-old sexual assault through the courts.
