These states are observing Confederate Memorial Day this month
As most of y’all know, during the civil war era, the southern states secceeded from the US and form the confederacy. Stupidly, Georgia made a Confederate Memorial Day (Robert E. Lee's birthday) a state holiday in 2015 as it represents “four years struggle for state’s rights, individual freedoms (ironic, right?), and local government control. Many have said to combat this that they have to stop endorsing this neo-confederate agenda.
Obviously, this relates to the civil war and the enslavement of African slaves. Today, African Americans still have to fight against the discrimination and oppression of actions like this.
