Executive Branch Power Change || 4-16-18 || Chloe Villa-Abrille

Updates on the presidents power over military could be revised, changing congresses limit on the executive branch. Many are concerned over the possibility of the effect of the, "GOP-controlled Congress," Others are worried America will sink into another period of isolationism, not making any moves, or that we will not act in time and then suffer the price of an attack on our country. In the concern of the war on terror, efforts are being made to enforce the need for a congressional review for Authorization over Use of Military Force once every for years. Calling reinforcements or new military actions would also need to be reported to Congress in a 48 hour time span, along with a 60 day review with lawmakers over the matter. Congress would also need to have more gravity in these decisions since it would be very difficult to override a president veto. Revision over the executive branch has been suggested for year now, but after Trump decided to launch missiles at Syria, changes are most likely to be made.
Trump is acting childish once again and has made the sudden and un-thoughtful decision to attack Syria, of which concerns many over the fact that Syria has ties to Russia, and the US and Russia really has not had the best relationship in the past with the clash of communism and the arms race leading to the Cold War. This once diplomatic problem, now a missile crisis problem is very concerning; however, Syria doesn't play a large role in the Russian economy and multiple attacks on similar countries have been launched with no retaliation. The presidents power is also most likely to be restricted, such as is 1973 with the War Powers Act limiting the presidents power after the Vietnam war.
