More states move to eliminate ‘tampon tax’
Some states are hesitant to give up the revenue
Summary: Many people have been wondering why things like Viagra are tax-exempt but feminine hygiene products aren't? So, many states have eliminated the "tampon tax" on these items. Some states, however, are hesitant to give up these taxes, due to the excess income they receive. Upon further investigation, a "pink tax" was found. This means many female products have some kind of extra charge.
Analysis: The main argument and concern: if women are being paid less, why would you make their upkeep cost more? I think that's it's ridiculous that women have to pay for something they can't control in the first place. So, I think exempting the tax from feminine hygiene is a step in the right direction. From apush this could relate to the excise tax on whiskey? But this is obviously very different.
