Survivors of the Parkland school shooting returned from spring break with new security measures that made some feel like they were in prison. Many students think that the clear backpacks and ID badges are a constant eemeninder of what happened that day. Also some feel that with these new measures they are losing their sense of privacy. Some students have started protesting by putting a price tag on their backpack ultimately saying that the back pack is more valuable to their life.
I agree with the students. These measures are extreme. I think all the adults and administrators need to step back and think about if they lost 17% of their classmates or teachers when they were in high school then have to come back to school being treated like a prisoner. This is important to US history because it shows that kids are still fighting for stricter gun laws to protect them selves. This is like when people protested the law for voting age because they said if they are old enough to go to war for their country they wanted to vote and technically they were teenagers.
