New Orleans Cheerleader Fired For "Unwanted Fraternization"- Victoria Gonzalez

Bailey Davis, an NFL cheerleader for the New Orleans Saints or a "Saintsation" was fired due to "anti-fraternisation policies between dancers and players and semi-nude photos posted on social media." On her private Instagram account, Bailey Davis posted a picture of her in a body suit that was considered "distasteful" and violated the rules of the Saintsations. Now I don't necessarily understand why that needed to be posted to begin with, but the fact of the matter is that the cheerleaders are required to follow rule such as:

  • If in a bar and a NFL player arrives before or after you, you must leave.
  • No eye contact is allowed between an NFL player.
  • You cannot follow or like any NFL player's social media account.
  • You cannot attend a party with an NFL player.
Some of the many odd rules required to "protect the cheerleaders from the players" while meanwhile the players have no rules against them being sleazy or inappropriate. Davis talks about how the issue is discriminatory to women and I agree, these girls have to bend over backwards in order to avoid being harassed when in reality the NFL players should have rules against harassing women to begin with.

  1. Olivia Wall- I think rules should be equal between the male and female.

  2. This is very unfair. This relates back to the civil rights time period when women were still fighting for their rights. The fact that women (and other groups) have been fighting for rights for so long is pretty sad.

  3. Okay, I agree that sexual harassment is a problem, but we shouldn't punish potential victims. That's like giving someone a bulletproof vest instead of just unloading the gun.
