Kyla Thomas- (1st Period) -Mother charged with injecting feces to son's IV during cancer treatment

Summary: This article was about how a mother injected fecal matter into her son's IV treatment for leukemia. The mother, Tiffany Alberts, says that she was trying to get her son into another unit because she felt that the treatment would be better. She knowingly placed her son in a dangerous situation. The blood tests that were ran found fecal matter which caused an infection which an extensive medical evaluation could not to explain. The mother was charged with six counts of aggravated battery and one count of neglect of a dependent, that led to her son's infection. The doctor noted that he could've died from this and his leukemia may be harder to cure because of the delay of progress made in his treatment.

Analysis: This was written by Shachar Peled and the date that this article was produced was November 26, which shows its relevance. It's crazy to me that a mother would do this to her own child who is sick enough. This shows the evil in this woman. Why would a mother ever wish to make her child worse? Evil in the world starts in the home. The boy's own mother knowingly and purposely injected feces in her own son's IV. With her son suffering from leukemia, what could've possibly been running through her mind for her to do that? The good thing is that justice was served and the lady has charges against her name. I could synthesize this to the court system and African Americans. I wonder what the sentence would be had an African American mother or father done this to their child. Would they have gotten six charges or death? Would they have had a life sentence to prison? The questions automatically popped in my head reading this article.

  1. It's horrible that this mother purposefully worsened her son's health conditions.

  2. The sad thing is, I can see both sides in this situation. It shameful yes, but the amount and the steps of medical care is so extensive that most of the time people don't get the treatment they need.
