Nana Johnson p2 - Google Fiber Brings Fast Speeds to 34 Cities

Google plans on expanding their "Googble Fiber" internet service to 34 more cities across the country. You can surf at 1 gigabit per second which is apparently 100 times faster than existing broadband services. Google is obviously planning on expanding its company and enter more markets, competing with Verizon and AT&T. Prices are about the same as other companies. Google already owns a lot of things like YouTube, which makes a lot of money from ads. They don't plan on going to the biggest cities like New York and LA.

Analysis: I think that Google's venture into the internet providing service is great. They announced that they've been working on it 4 years ago. If anything, it causes the rest of the companies to up their game. That benefits all of the consumers when it comes to fast speeds. I'm actually unimpressed at how slow the average internet services in the United States are. We're supposed to be one of the most developed countries in the world, yet we're actually far behind many Asian and European countries. With our country constantly expanding, the internet needs to keep up with us.
