Leslie Kelly: Utah mom says shirts are 'indecent,' buys them all

This is one of the strangest headlines I've ever come across. The other day in Salt Lake City, Judy Cox was out shopping with her son when she decided a bunch of shirts on display at PacSun were inappropriate. Of course, the staff had to refuse her requests to take them down, so she bought every one they had in stock at the moment, which piled up to almost six hundred dollars. She hopes her actions will inspire people everywhere to stand up against the indecency and pornography being displayed to the poor children every day. I'm pretty sure the article said that Mrs. Cox is a Mormon, and I realize that she belongs to a strict church, but I still don't see why it's her problem. She doesn't have to buy them, she can prevent her kids from wearing them, so why does she feel the need to appoint herself the spokesperson for the entire community and just swipe a bunch of shirts out of its reach? Obviously, I live in an environment where I'm personally more comfortable with seeing and wearing more revealing clothing but when people take it upon themselves to make a choice for a whole bunch of other people, in almost any context, it doesn't sit right with me.
Article.

  1. Well, I can understand, because PacSun can have some stuff that's not only revealing, but has graphic images on it. I don't think she should have gone to the extreme, but I feel like it was a mother doing what she thought was best.
