The article I am diss using today deals with something I’m sure many have heard about and seen on the news. This one also hits very close to home because it is occurring in California which is my second home. The HUGE wildfire outbreaks ragging all across Southern California have taken away many homes and Devastated the lives of those living in them. A specific case is Gerard Butler, Scott Derrickson, and many of Hollywood’s other participants taking the occurrences to social their social media’s and displaying their grievances on their own experiences. Butler posts a selfie of him with his Malibu home burnt to a crisp and captions it “Returned to my house in Malibu after evacuating. Heartbreaking time across California. Inspired as ever to be the courage, spirit and sacrifice of fire fighters.” And then goes on to promote the LAFD and gives links to go to to support them. While the wildfires in Cali are tragic, at least there are people there to support and protect them every step of the way.
This can be very closely related to the fire that swept across the hills of Oakland, Ca in 1991 leaving 25 deceased and thousands of houses burned down. Even though three decades earlier fires swept this exact same area, people continued to build their homes there, in-spite of what is inevitable to come.
It’s crazy that everyone is blogging about the wildfires in California, this just goes to show just how serious these fires have gotten because they are consuming the media. I think we need some outside help to get these fires extinguished. - Joziah German
