Henry Haas- Put in a good word for Putin

Around 20 hours ago President Trump confirmed claims made that he was planning a meeting with President Putin in the near future. The call apparently took place around 2 weeks prior to this announcement, with the President stating that it went very well, and that they will be meeting soon to discuss the arms race, which has escalated to astronomical levels over time. When asked the same question, however, spokesmen for Putin declared this statement to be largely false, stating that a conversation between the two in the White House is unlikely. In the past two weeks tensions between the US and Russia have only grown, so many are torn as to what this could mean for the future of the relations between the two countries.
While it is a bit drastic I relate this to the Cold War, in which many of the same political practices were used to threaten the other side. Diplomacy now seems to be a bit easier to obtain, but if the cards aren’t played correctly it could end up causing more trouble for America than good. In the last two weeks both the US and Russia have dismissed 60 officials for claims of dishonesty, effectively countering eachother and raising tension. With everything else that’s going on in the world right now, I hope Russia is not another bullet point to add to the list.

  1. It’s crazy how history really does repeat itself. I hope these tensions can be eased before things escalate.

  2. This literal exact situation has happened before. I hope tensions don't rise any higher than they already are.
