Townley Jordan - Hillary Clinton Pneumonia

Summary: On September Eleventh, Hillary Clinton stumbled away early from the 9/11 remembrance ceremony, which happens yearly on this date, at the site of the Twin Towers in New York City. The incident has brought back talk of Clinton’s state of health as well as her honesty about it. Clinton’s campaign announced on Sunday night what she had known since Friday -  that she had pneumonia. She will likely have to release more documents about her health or do an interview on it specifically, because it has repeatedly been a cause of concern for voters. Her health came back to the spotlight after a video was shown of her nearly collapsing getting into the car while leaving the 9/11 service, with the campaign initially saying that she felt overheated.

Analysis: The article was published in the morning on September 12, the day after the incident so the author had time to gather information as it was provided. In the past, Clinton has had health concerns such as her coughing fits and the concussion in 2012 which led to a blood clot that has her on daily blood thinners. While she has been extensively screened and deemed fit to serve as president, Donald Trump especially has used her past health issues to sway voters during the campaign. This incident that caused her to have to leave an important memorial, will no doubt be used against her as well. The article was an informative article and seems to be pretty factual, giving little hints towards both sides of the story. This relates to many past presidents not being completely upfront about their health concerns from the public. Specifically, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who lost the use of his legs following a strand of polio and used leg braces to stand in public, but in private used a wheelchair. Less than six months after being elected for his fourth term, the president died of a stroke. It was not revealed until later that he had been afflicted with high blood pressure for a while, even during the campaign.

  1. I had a similar article, having to do with Hillary on Sunday. I agree that this information will be used against her in the presidential race. I connected mine article to Kennedy who hid the fact that he had Addison's disease.

  3. I did my analysis from a similar article. I think it's interesting that this illness will be used to judge her as a fit president.

  5. Its extremely dumb when the media has to use someone's illness to judge their political skill.

  6. A illness should not judge the political skill of someone. On top of that she gets too much unnecessary flack about her gender.
