Lauren Cargill - Consider Waiting to Get Your Flu Shot

Summary: These days pharmacy companies advertise flu shots year round, this time of year especially. You can't walk into a drug store without seeing brightly colored posters advertising flu shot deals. Seeing all this makes you think that you should get your flu shot now however, flu season is weeks, if not months away. You should wait to get your flu shot because it hasn't yet been proven how long a flu shot lasts. Getting your flu shot in September could mean that by January you won't be immune anymore. Experts say that while later may be better, you should just get your shot when ever you have time.

Analysis: I think that this is another way that companies easily influence consumers easily through advertising. The average person will see an increase of flu shot advertisements and assume that they should go get their shot without doing their research. I hope that people see these articles and know that they should always research things. This relates to WWII Nazi propaganda because the Nazis made the Germans believe that they needed Hitler to get out of their economic depression similar to how the companies make consumers believe they need to get a flu shot now. The flu shots are no where near as drastic as WWII, but its similar in how advertisements influence consumers.
