Johns Hopkins Opens New 'Zika Center' by Macey Kanaman 8th Period

Summary: Doctors working at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore have recently opened a Zika Center. At this Zika Center patients can be tested for the Zika virus, diagnosed and even receive treatment. The Zika Center has also been experiencing an increase in the number of patients coming in due to the new local cases that have popped up.

Analysis: This article addresses the very serious Zika virus that has recently been contracted here in the United States. I think that it is very important there is a center for treatment and diagnosis. It's better to be aware now before it becomes a bigger problem. The Zika Center relates to the Cutter Laboratories in Berkeley, California in the 1950s. At these laboratories they experienced many trial and error with the Sabin (live) Polio vaccine. Eventually, the Sabin vaccine was replaced by the Salk, which could happen with the treatments that are currently being attempted at the Zika Center in Baltimore. Only time will tell, as did with the Cutter Laboratories. The Zika Center is probably facing the same speculation as the Cutter Laboratories did.Johns Hopkins Opens New 'Zika Center'
