Leah Nowell - Trump's Immigration Policy

8/27/16

Summary : Trump has determined to build a wall on the South borders of the US and make Mexico pay for it. Also accusing the immigrants of being criminals and rapists. Now it's a year later and he brings back up the topic and tries to "soften" the policy in ways that could backfire. But now he's not answering the questions on if they're still going through with the original plans. But the biggest question is if he's about to flip-flop, which he is refusing to answer. He's approached the policy in many different ways, by deportation and the building of the wall. He is now suggesting potential changes to his policy, such as mass deportations. He has also moved on from his original plan to ban the Muslims. Now Trump is trying to find a "firm and fair" way to solve this issue. He was recently asked if he was changing his mind on how to work with the policy and his response come from his campaign manager and said "To be determined."

Analysis : I believe that Trump needs to make up his mind and figure out what he wants to do. Because if he doesn't then the people that are voting for him won't know what's happening in the future. This whole situation reminds me of the holocaust. Hitler assumed something about all Jews and people that weren't his ideal human. So, he tried to exclude and get them out. Personally, I'm afraid that this whole situation will progress into something like that.

  1. I agree completely with your analysis. If Donald Trump keeps switching his dangerous policies now, imagine how many times he will want to change our current government policies that are doing a fantastic job!

  2. I agree with the Holocaust reference, there are parts during that time that are very similar to what is going now. If Trump keep up with his theory our world might become something close to the Holocaust. - Skyler Tepedino
