Sophia Jalilvand: How Children Change the Way We Think About War

Summary: This article reminds us that war is about actual people. We understand that thousands of people dying is indeed a tragedy, but we sometimes forget the true impact of it. The article included a photo gallery (with a viewer discretion warning) including gruesome pictures of children in war. It really opens our eyes to the effects of war around the world, since it is easy to ignore when it is not happening to us.

Analysis: The author of this article, AJ Willingham, is clearly against war. It was posted on August 20, which increases the urgency, since we know this is all happening in Syria right now. This was written for people that support war and has a negative influence on them since it means to open their eyes to the toll war actually takes to families and prove how terrible it can be. This article is important because war is, unfortunately, always happening somewhere in the world. Most of history involves solving conflict with war, which is not the right mentality to have. This can be connected to any war in US history, most notably the Civil War, as it was the most gruesome.
