Tragedy has struck the Biden family. Joe Biden's son, Beau Biden, died at the age of 46, from brain cancer Saturday night. He had been going through weeks of intensive treatment beforehand, and despite the best efforts of his medical staff, he passed away late Saturday night. His father and family are in mourning, and the nation sends its prayers to the Biden household.
In life, Beau Biden was the Attorney General of the State of Delaware. He was described by many as intelligent, gracious, and kind. In particular, his father described him as "quite simply, the finest man any of us have ever known". He was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013, and was given a certified clean bill of health following surgery. His cancer returned this spring, and Biden began to pursue aggressive treatment of the disease. He passed away at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Baltimore, surrounded by his extended family.
