Balls and patties of black substances are showing up in mass amounts in Santa Monica. Teams are investigating the cause, but they suspect it was a recent nearby oil spill. Beaches might be closed to the public until cleaning crews clear the area of all toxic wastes.
Humans have always been a destructive force, constantly draining mother nature of her resources. The introduction of oil came about when automobiles became cheap and easy to assemble in the 20's, creating an explosion in the need for oil. Over the years, businessman and government officials have chased this black evil substance in order to satisfy their greedy minds but they do not stop to think about the effects of our overconsumption on the environment. As a result, a reckless oil leakage has turned a bright beach into and dark, toxic wasteland.
