Eye Cancer -Destiny Ramirez

A mother in Rockford, Illinois discovered her child's tumor based off of a photo she took of her son's face. In an interview she said that she had always noticed something in the back of his eye, and always had comments about they way his eyes looked in pictures Then, a few weeks ago, she decided to look up her son's symptoms and learned of a person who had the same symptoms, who in pictures, had one red eye and one white that ended up having cancer. She took him to the doctor and they confirmed that he had been blind in this eye for his entire life because there was a growing tumor. Due to this, they removed his eye before it spread to the rest of his body, and he is now in good health.

This is a story about how technology can actually help save people's lives. And not even by calling 911, but by pictures alone. I'm so glad that the boy is alive and safe and hope that other people can learn from this valuable lesson.

  2. I've always heard that having a red eye in pictures means that you have cancer, but I never knew that it could actually be true. I agree technology has helped us a lot, even in the most simple of ways. -Azra Zuniga
