White House is mailed package with cyanide - Jack VanGorden 4th per.

The Secret Service has just confirmed that the White House has received an envelope containing cyanide. The package was first received yesterday at the White House Mail Screening Facility. Although the first test came back negative, when officials sent it to a lab for further testing it came back positive for the substance. Unfortunately, the Secret Service cannot reveal too much info on their investigation, but the returning address found on the envelope identified the man guilty. This, supposedly, isn't his first incident. In 1995, he sent a package covered in urine and feces. According to law enforcement, there were no injuries or exposure concerns to anyone involved.

I found this story interesting because I had never really thought about packages that are sent to the White House. Thankfully, the team at the screening facility was on their game and detected the substance before anyone was injured. Although, it makes me wonder what other things they have been sent..

  1. Because the White House holds the president it can be seen as an international target. Throughout history there are a number of events where the white house has received threats.
