Hats Off to Volvo (Elizabeth Muscari p6th)

Volvo has extended its hands towards transporters other than drivers: bikers. The company has invented an invisible paint almost, which will make bikers more visible at night to drivers. The paint will reflect off of cars which will alert drivers to become more cautious to nighttime bike riders.

Analysis: I think this relates to APUSH because it’s inventions such as this, or even inventions like duct tape, Velcro, and kitty litter (all which were invented during World War II) that have made our lives easier, safer, and more efficient. I think that this invention in particular is also going to raise awareness in bike safety. Drivers shouldn’t be angered by bike riders, but actually more cautious and treat them as other cars on the roads. Nighttime is a dangerous time for bikers and now that this paint has made its way into the world, I feel that it will pave the way for more inventions to promote bike safety.

  2. I know a lot of bikers who train early in the morning and always fear that they will be hit by cars. It's great that a large company like Volvo has taken the time and money to produce this.
