Library of Congress acquires rare trove of Civil War images

A housewife living in Houston, Texas has been collecting rare civil war pictures for half a century. She has sold more than 500 images to the library of congress. Of the images, some of the scenes offer a portal into the slave life from the south, created by the confederate people. Other pictures show us the beggining of the war in south Carolina, while others show president Abraham lincoln's funeral. Stanford says, "the images are like ghosts from the past that reflect part of American history.
This is very interesting and awesome that this lady is offering precious pictures from our countries past to the library of congress. This lets us understand a little bit more of Americas history and what people actually went through. Although photographs have not been around forever, people would keep possessions that tell of past events to commemorate what the country and the people went through.
