Shooting of 2 officers in Ferguson Madana Kloss 4th
A 20-Year old man was charged on Sunday for the shooting of 2 police officers during a protest in front of a police department building. The suspect claimed that he was targeting someone other than the officers. He was charged with 1st degree assault. Even though he was arrested the protest still goes on. This ties back with the civil rights movement because protests went on in the past and even though many people got arrested and killed the protests still didnt stop.In order for there to be peace in Ferguson, I think that measures that specifically address police brutality, such as requiring police officers to wear cameras at all times while on duty, need to be taken. A great reason for the lack of peace is because citizens feel that police target the African American community based on racist motives instead of being just enforcers of the law.
