Video Games (Ashton Garcia, 2nd)

It is unclear whether or not video games actually do cause violence in kids/teens/young adults. However, 16 schools have banned parents to allow their children to play Grand Theft Auto and some other "violent" video games. Instead of politely asking and (of course, you can't force a parent to stop their kid from playing a game) suggesting, the schools threatened and even said they would call the police of any child continued to play.

See the thing is, is that it is still unclear that video games even effect a child, teen, or young adult. I would completely understand if it was suggested to not allow your child to play, or let them play in small doses due to common and recent school violence (one of my previous blogs, Columbine, etc.), but threatening and forcing only causes a situation to get worse, and most likely, people won't listen

  1. I agree with you. I find it quite funny that the principal would actually permit that type of threat to be made.

  2. Likewise, and how would they even attempt to enforce that?

  3. It seems like cops might have better things to do with their jobs than stopping a child from playing video games. Hopefully their principal will see that and maybe just send out a letter of recommendation to parents rather than threatening them.

  4. I don't really have an answer to that, I just hope people can see clearly and not blame their decisions on video games because I can assure you that Kirby has not transformed me into a vicious criminal
