Woman Tweets "2 drunk 2 care" Before Killing Two- Victoria Lennox 2nd Period

On November 17, 2013, a 20-year-old woman from Hallandale Beach, FL accused of driving down the wrong side of a highway and killing two people allegedly tweeted, “2 drunk 2 care” hours before the crash. Kayla Mendoza, the woman in this situation, was accused of hitting a 2012 Toyota Camry at around 1:45 am on Sawgrass Expressway. Both passengers of the Camry, Marisa Catronio and Kaitlyn Ferrante were both killed on impact, however Mendoza is said to be in critical condition at a nearby hospital. As if the drunk tweet wasn’t bad enough, Mendoza’s twitter page describes her as a “pothead princess”, and her tweets consist of alcohol and marijuana references, along with pictures of marijuana. Some of Mendoza’s other tweets include, “2 high 2 care”, “Oh ya know, just rolling a blunt in the airport parking lot”, “I really am so baked right now”, and “I have a test at 8am, why am I drunk right now.”

I honestly feel so bad for this girl. Her whole life is ruined. Driving under the influence has become an increasingly major factor in car wrecks and deaths. I feel like there have been more and more billboards, advertisements, and commercials regarding this issue, but people still ignore the reality. This also serves as a reminder to anyone with a social networking account to WATCH WHAT YOU POST because her additional tweets about getting high and being drunk certainly did not help matters at all.

  2. It's sad to think that her tweets directly disrespected what happened hours later. She was careless, and she was aware that the was being careless. What a tragic event. Ashley Barnes 2nd

  3. It's sad to see someone in such a low state. It's also not fair to the innocent people who were killed because of the woman's faults. I hope things like this make more people realize the results of drugs/alcohol.

  4. This is another reason why we need to create awareness and find other ways to tell people how dangerous drinking and driving is. Millions of people have been killed. It's horrible to hear stories about all of these kids, parents, sisters and brothers mothers and fathers being killed by someone else's carelessness - Lauren Hamm 2nd period

  5. wow, This is actually really upsetting. Especially how todays society abuses drugs and alcohol and is portrayed as "cool". People need to take utter control of their lives and not just think about themselves.

  6. I don't feel sorry for her at all because she made so many choices against her case. She is an adult after all.

  7. Her stupidity and arrogance killed two people. That is something she has to deal with for the rest of her life. This woman needs help.

  8. This is really sad. This woman is clearly an alcoholic and also abuses drugs. It is immensely difficult for addicts to get clean especially if they have been using these substances for a long time, because their body actually becomes dependent on them. it mostly just saddens me that these addictions which could have been (as they so often are) caused by someone introducing her to the drugs and alcohol at a young age, caused the destruction of not only her own life but two others.
