Every year since 1997, an event called SantaCon has been hosted. SantaCon is a bar crawl in which local and out of town bar goers dress up as Christmas themed characters and drink. It's as horrifying as it sounds. For the most part, the participants are nice. They just want to have fun during the holidays. However, more and more of the attendies are getting so ridiculously drunk that they're harassing locals and getting sick in the street.
SantaCon unfortunately is a nation wide event and this is not the first complain SantaCon NYC has received. Even people who take part in the event are unhappy with the conduct of fellow Con goers. However, the Con is sticking by their guns and is going to try cleaning it up beofore it gets shut down. Santacon has had growing pains," the event's organizers said in a press release on the NYC SantaCcon website. "With a little elbow-grease from the elves, a little patience from the community, and just a pinch of holiday magic, Santacon can spread joy."
