Rebecca Brandt-4th (1st post of 2nd 6 weeks) Shipwreck reveals lifestyle of ancient 1 percent

Around 65 B.C., there was a shipwreck off of the coast of Antikythera, Greece. In 1900, some fishermen found the ship and scientists recovered hundreds of artifacts and statues. Recently, scientists again excavated the ship and found many new shocking things. They found over 50 undiscovered artifacts including ceramics, like pots and vases, and they even found many small parts of the ship, like screws and bolts. These findings revealed how the 1 percent lived in Greece in the Age of Caesar.

I find it very intriguing that so much of ancient culture can be revealed even after centuries of being lost in the ocean. The artifacts that were shown in the video were very detailed and not very damaged for their condition. It is surprising to me that the artifacts don't get damaged or lost. It makes me wonder if all of the ships that never made it to the New World have any lost culture or artifacts and are still in the ocean today. I hope to hear more about artifacts from this ship wreck, or any others, being discovered in the future.
