The mourning father, Any Parker, of the news reporter killed live while reporting went to a chairman of the Judiciary branch, Rep. Bob Goodlatte, in hopes that his situation may appeal to the politician. Goodlatte represents the area in Virginia where Parker's daughter, Alison Parker, and her cameraman, Adam Ward, were both shot and killed. Goodlatte gave the father his condolences and his staff prepared a meeting discussing the NRA. Parker convinced the congressman to hold a hearing so the legislation would consider reducing gun violence (with possible gun control). There have been dozens of possible gun bills, but so far, the meetings haven't gone as Parker hoped. Goodlatte apparently "followed the typical line of: enforce the existing gun laws".
If something is going to change, there needs to be a change in not only laws, but also in America's moral backbone. Even if no one was allowed to carry a gun, criminals would still find a way to access weaponry (one of the most common weapons being guns) and people would still suffer from their lack of morality. It's hardly possible to say how someone could go about asking America to be revere, but that's the ideal solution to gun related crimes. Guns have been around since before the American Revolution and because of them wars have gotten 10x bloodier. No one likes a gun, but a simple law isn't going to put a solid end to the use of them.
