"Political Lies About Police Brutality" Julia Plummer pd 1

In this day and age, it's so easy to record any moment in time by simply pressing a button on your cell phone. Recently, this has helped the Black Lives Matter movement, by allowing people to broadcast a lot of the police brutality towards black people that is very present in everyone's life. But, even though a lot of this violence and hate has been recorded, officials still disregard the evidence and do nothing to bring justice to people affected by these actions.

Now, of course it's not every police officer that is racist, but that's not the point. There is so much hate and prejudice from people who are supposed to be protecting our society, that it's caused a great uprising and movement for change, that has helped a lot, but there's still a very long way to go before everyone realizes that black lives truly matter, the hate ends, and we can live in a world where other people's cultures are protected and admired, instead of looked down upon and appropriated.

  1. Because racism has been engrained into the White American culture, and yes it is a White American thing mostly, it's going to be impossible to get rid of it. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't try, but we should realize that it's a problem in White America. Since the Civil War and Slavery and Colonial times the White men of this country have let racism and prejudice go on in our country. Having a Black President helps in some areas of our country, but there are still places like Ferguson, Baltimore, and Charleston that have yet to see justice for African Americans. We need to eliminate the racism in the media and social settings to help the Black Lives Matter movement. - Juliet Nelson 9

  2. Racism is something so deeply ingrained in every aspect of our lives and I think the reason the entire Black Lives Matter movement is so controversial in the media is because people are finally proving that there is something wrong with the system. I hope capturing videos for evidence on brutality by the police will bring a change that the police need to change. (Bella Di Fazio of:8)
