christa hamby P1 - Hurricane Patricia

The National Hurricane Center declared Hurricane Patricia had become the strongest storm it had ever recorded. Hurricane warnings Friday evening covered a zone spanning San Blas to Punta San Telmo including the resort town of Puerto Vallarta, with a population of just over 200,000 people. Patricia made history Friday morning when its peak winds hit 200 mph. The outcome of this hurricane is expected to be catastrophic.
California extreme droughts, two of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded a couple of years apart, exploding permafrost in Russian tundra, once in a century storms occurring more frequently than in a century apart, record setting global temperatures accumulating in the past decade or so. The signs are adding up that the earth is definitely warming. With technology available to move away from CO2 based energy, how much longer are we going to twiddle our thumbs? You can't just keep shrugging this off. And it's better to be safe than sorry. Natural Gas is already taking coal plants offline, at least NG doesn't emit as much CO2, but we can go further. We could build houses right now in the Southwest that are off the grid. Solar mixed with new batteries that can get the house through a cloudy day. In the meantime, I pray for anybody caught in this storm's path.
