Taytum Buford(Period 6)- Flooding May Break Record

Summary: There was an article from the Dallas Morning News published October 24, 2015 discussing the possibility of Texas breaking its own record. In 1991, Texas produced a total of 53.54 in. and right now, with a whole two months to go, we are at 50 in. The National Weather Service says that Texas is really close to breaking its own record.
Analysis: This, to me, is super ironic. Considering Texas is about as South as it gets, we are known for having a lot of droughts and dry, cracked land. However, I guess for some reason we are now having a lot of flooding. In fact, we are having so much flooding that a lot of flights on Saturday were cancelled coming in and out of Texas because of the rainfall. This throws it back to the good ol' 1600's and 1700's when the winter got so cold that nobody could even go outside. Unfortunately for them. heaters, umbrellas, air conditioners, and fans hadn't been invented yet so could either bundle yourself or freeze to death. Luckily, we have gutters and umbrellas that keep us from getting wet that could lead to getting sick!

  2. Woah this is ironic. I would think Texas would be the last state to be having flash flooding warnings.

  4. This is so interesting!! Our climate has changed a lot over the past 400 years, but there's a weird pattern to climate change, and I guess it's hitting Texas again. But Texas is always thought of as so dry; it's weird that we have so much flooding going on at the moment!
