Sophie Kurzius (8th), Hurricane Patricia

On Friday, October 23, 2015,  Hurricane Patricia moved to Mexico's Pacific Coast was said to give the coast a ferocious beating. Thousands of tourists and locals were evacuated from the luxury beach resorts that reside on the coast on Thursday, just before the hurricane came in. Hurricane Patricia is the strongest hurricane ever recorded at sea, and the entire coast was terrified of the damage it would cause on Saturday, October 25, 2015. However, the hurricane came in to a low pressure area and it was downgraded from a potentially catastrophic storm to a tropical depression. Mexico stopped holding it's breath and is extremely thankful for the way the storm ran it's course. Hurricane Patricia, nevertheless, still caused much damage, especially in its mountainous regions. Leaving homes and buildings destroyed, huge landslides, and an enormous amount of intense rainfall. Mexico still has some recovering to do from Hurricane Patricia, but Mexico was prepared for the worst, and it is already working towards getting back on its feet. This article was written by Ray Sanchez on Saturday October 24, 2015. This means that there could potentially be room for more damage done by Hurricane Patricia, since it hasn't passed through Mexico completely. This article is significant because it informs the public about the danger of the storm and to prepare the rest of Mexico for the effects of the hurricane.
