Darby McMahon Pd#9 Drunk Driver Crashes into Oklahoma Homecoming Parade

A woman named Adacia Chambers is being held in jail on four accounts of second degree murder for a drunk driving crash on Saturday where four were killed and many more were injured. The families of these 4 are mourning, and many other families are awaitng medical tests and surgeries. The crash occured on Saturday morning during the OSU homecoming parade. The driver, Adacia, crashed right through the police blockade and into the crowd. Many said that all they could see was a black mass coming towards them, and one woman recalled flying over some strollers after impact. After the devastation OSU officials decided to keep the homecoming game on schedule.

This is so devastating. I cannot believe that this accident only occured due to a drunk lady, drinking and driving. If she had followed the law, or maybe had some common sense, this would not have happened. This article by Catherine E. Shoichet, CNN, really captures the tragedy of the event and gives a good amount of detail. You would think that by now with all of the occurences we would hear more about drinking and driving, but we dont. I think the main idea of this article is that we usually set aside drunk driving because there are so many worse things to look at on the news, but we really need to crack down on drunk driving. If this one lady had decided to not drive while intoxicated then there would be four more people alive today.

  1. I agree that drunk driving should be handled. It's so selfish for people to be so myopic to satisfy themselves for one night to ruin several others' lives.

  2. You're right, there has not been much news about drunk driving lately. That might be a good thing because it implies there have been less incidents involving drunk drivers. I have seen a lot of drivers texting while on the highway, going at high speeds. It's not getting into peoples' heads that a distracted driver is a dangerous one.
