Government sued over new enviromental restrictions by: Luis Ceja

Recently the EPA has come out with a new set of restrictions involving fossil fuels. These restrictions have been met by strong opposition from both state and industry groups effected by these new restrictions. Tons of states and industries have filed law suits to the U.S. Court of appeals claiming that it hurts there business and is overstepping the boundaries of the government. Exercising to much power by continuing to pile on regulations. Sound familiar cause it should. Those oppossed are fighting back hard and saying that these regulations will hurt the lively hood of many american people. The EPA though has stood firm outlining where in the senate approved clean air act they have the power to operate in this capacity. Opponents believe the house approved version is not so loose and free in it's power. Another thing to add is that 23 out of the 25 states are republican majority states. The outcome of this conflict is yet to be seen. While I personally agree with the EPA's restrictions because of the immense importance there is of protecting are environment. Since it's the earth were stuck on for the time being. This does bear a lot of similarities to the early days of the country. Were people took sides on issues such as imposed tarrifs on good as they claim it hurts them economically and is an overstep in power by the government. This situations draws many similarities to the early issues are country had. We will have to see if our current time matches they way we handled these back then.

  1. I agree that we need to do every thing that we possibly can to protect our environment and Earth. Sadly, there are too many people in this world who choose to be greedy money eater instead of being earth savers. Madeline Jones 4th period
