Shayne Grant:At Pensacola rally, Trump says 'get out and vote for Roy Moore'

President Trump held a rally in Pensacola, FL Friday night where he gave another famous "Make America Great Again" speeches. He started off by defending Alabama Senate Nominee Roy Moore even encoring for Alabama to vote for him. Trump claimed that the country cannot afford to have another democrat in Congress if they want to keep up with the "MAGA Agenda." In the process, Trump also made fun of the Moore accusers and their lawyers. He spent the rest of the speech bashing 2016 Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton, bragging about his support from minorities like Hispanics and African Americans, and by reassuring the country about the North Korean threat. This rally follows a pattern of controversial Friday night rallies by Trump with updates on his presidency.

Trump's blatant support for Roy Moore is troubling in that Trump does not address the sexual harassment allegations but simply focuses on the parties of Moore and his opponent. The President gives off the idea that he thinks that it is more important to have your party in office than to have a moral person in office. His attacks on Clinton have gotten old at this point with the election occurring over a year ago at this point. It makes him sound less presidential if he spends half his presidency bragging about how he won. Trump is awkward when he talks about minorities. While I'm sure he means no harm to them, his word choices come off as "closeted racism." My only hope is that Trump learns to understand that the candidate is more important than the party and that winning the election isn't everything.
